Kanye West’s Insurance Company Refuses to Cover Canceled Tour, Suggests ‘Drug Use’ the Cause of Mental Breakdown

Kanye West is filing a $10M lawsuit against his insurance company for not covering his canceled shows from last year’s ‘Saint Pablo’ tour.

Anyone in the mental health community can clearly see that Kanye has been struggling with mental illness throughout the years, even before his wife, Kim Kardashian, was robbed in Paris. His primary care physician signed a statement stating that Kanye was suffering from psychosis and he had mental breakdown, this was still…NOT enough for the insurer to pay Kanye the money was is owed.

The insurance company is trying to bring up Kanye’s marijuana use as a potential reason why the claim could be denied, BUT they have not given a specific reason to why the claim has not been paid or if they are going to pay it at all. The insurance company mentioned that they would like to examine members of Kanye’s team under oath despite their testimonies provided at the time of his breakdown.

At the time of his cancelation, TMZ stated:

Kanye had an insurance policy that covered him in the event illness prevented him from performing. The policy provides the insurance carrier will pay Kanye for not only the money he’d make but the money he was obligated to pay others if “accident or illness … prevents any Insured Person from appearing or continuing to appear in any or all of the Insured Performance(s) or Event(s).”

How many times have you had a hard time proving your mental illness/mental disability to your family, employer, sometimes even your primary care physician? I think we can all vouch that Kanye could probably receive disability for his illness if he wasn’t working–he shows THAT much stress to the public. We see it, but it’s hard for others to see it. Does the man have to go postal in order to get legit assistance? HOW SWAY? Is this not ill enough for you?
